Eng. Promises too good to be true? 2/5

I got a call roughly one month ago one thurstday morning around 9-10 o'clock (gmt+2)  from the UK direction which, as everyone knows, begins with +44. I thought to myself that its probably one of the former suppliers I worked with, which I frequently talked with in the phone, so I answered the call. Instead they were asking for mr. Koskinen who happens to be my former business partner and was the CEO of a ltd company we operated until I bought him out. The caller had obtained somehow my number and mr. Koskinen's name and wanted to reach someone from our mutually owned company.

I introduced myself and let him know that K-man has left the company in pursuit of greater happiness, and that if I might perhaps somehow assist him. Caller told me that he is calling from London and looking for business minded people from Finland and asked if he could perhaps ask me a few questions instead. I told him to ask his questions and we proceeded to talk a while about the Helsinki stock exchange (OMX) and how that I have a small stock portfolio and that I'm studying BA etc.

After a five minute talk he handed over the phone to his superior and he asked how well I was treated and did a small customer service survey, and finally asked if I would like to be contacted by their contractor with a potential business proposal "in this region" - I was thinking that they might actually be headhunters for some company that is looking to expand to Finland, so I was happy to give them my permission. Mind you, my BS detectors had went off during the phone call time and time again but what the heck; They're paying the long distance call and I get to rehearse my spoken english.

Two weeks after that call I received another one. This time it was from WG which I had never heard about before. There was a very friendly and very professional sounding fellow who introduced me to their company and explained their business to me. I was naturally curious about everything he said, because thats the way I am. I'm a little sceptic at heart though.

The person I talked with lead me through all the AIDA tricks that a good seller goes: Attention, Interest, Desire, Action. I'll go through the inial phone call in the next post!

Here ends the 2nd part of this post. Third part will be online during friday 22th nov. 2013.
